The Future of the CAP Post-2027: Sustainability and Legal Instruments for the Agrifood System

On 19 February 2026, the Final Conference of the PRIN 2022 research project, entitled “Towards a Sustainable Agrifood System: Legal Tools for the Development of the European Agrifood Supply Chain”, will take place at Palazzo Del Prete – Aula Gaetano Contento, University of Bari Aldo Moro. The conference will be devoted to the future prospects of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) beyond 2027.

This initiative constitutes a particularly significant occasion for agricultural enterprises, supply chain organizations, and institutional stakeholders, as the debate on the post-2027 CAP is expected to have a substantial impact on:

support instruments and the system of direct payments;
social and environmental conditionality;
risk management in agriculture;
contractual models within agrifood supply chains;
the economic sustainability and competitiveness of enterprises.

D’Angelo Pernazza & Partners is pleased to note the participation of Professor Federico Pernazza among the scheduled speakers, within a scholarly forum bringing together academics, institutional representatives, and sectoral experts.

The reform of the CAP is not merely a matter of political and institutional relevance; it entails concrete implications for agricultural and agri-industrial enterprises, which are required to adapt to an evolving regulatory framework increasingly oriented towards integrated sustainability (environmental, economic, and social).

The Firm continuously monitors developments in European and national agrifood legislation, providing legal assistance in the following areas:

agricultural and agrifood law;
supply chain contractual arrangements;
public funding and support measures;
environmental compliance and sustainability.

Academic and institutional dialogue represents a crucial opportunity to anticipate regulatorytrajectories and to assist enterprises in strategic planning.
